Badgers Give Back

UW-Madison student-athletes continually set the bar high, but their accomplishments off the field are even more of a point of pride for the community. Every year, volunteers spend over 8,000 hours serving the community through the Badgers Give Back program.

Founded in 2012, Badgers Give Back receives more than 300 requests a year for community outreach and mentorship. Student-athletes serve as positive role models by participating in Bookin’ It With Bucky, a partnership between UW Athletics and the Madison Metropolitan School District that aims to improve literacy in elementary classrooms. Every Read Across America Day, Badgers work with teachers, families, and community members to promote family involvement in education.

UW Athletes also partner with local youth sports clubs via Adopt a Player programs that connect players both in-person and over email, helping the next generation of athletes practice their skills. The Wish Upon a Badger campaign fulfills the dreams of young fans with serious illnesses, giving them the opportunity to attend practices or go behind the scenes at stadiums and other athletic facilities. Student athletes also organize and promote fundraisers to help support organizations such as the American Family Children’s Hospital and the American Cancer Society.

Your support helps us provide opportunities for our student-athletes to respond to the needs of our community and fans, raise awareness and funding for philanthropic programs, and continue to volunteer our time to community service events, activities and projects.
