Getting a Head Start with QuickStart

The summer CALS QuickStart program provides incoming freshmen with a how-to guide for college before the fall semester begins. Through an online course and an on-campus “boot camp,” first-year students earn two credits, meet professors and advisers, plan for their major, and explore future careers.

More than 60 percent of students in the first QuickStart class had financial need. Your support helps provide scholarships for students to take part in this unique program so they can:

  • fulfill the CALS first-year seminar requirement and build the foundational skills necessary for a successful transition to campus
  • move to campus a week early and explore co-curricular and professional opportunities
  • reduce their time to degree by as much as a year through early academic and career planning, saving them tuition costs in future semesters
  • Every gift, no matter the size, equips students with the tools for a successful transition to college and a clear path forward.
